As soon as the ICC U-19 World Cup, a name that etched in our mind is a young chap called Yashasvi Jaiswal. Even though the under 19 team could not bring trophy to home but the tournament gave some start players. Yashasvi Jaiswal plays in the opening position and scored 400 runs throughout the tournament. A glimpse of Yashasvi Jaiswal life
The present star of less U 19 cricket team was born to Bhupendra Jaiswal and Kanchan Jaiswal in 28th December, 2001. The 18 year old opener has 5 siblings in total and his house is in Uttar Pradesh. His father runs a hardware shop in Suriyawan and Yashasvi’s mother is a housewife. He has been fond of cricket since childhood and this is the reason at the age of ten he shifted to Mumbai for training. During the training days he used to stay at Dadar and his training was being done at Azad Maidan. However, the training ground was not near and this is the reason he had to shift to Kalbadevi. He was accommodated at a dairy shop against minor work, although the shop owner refused to keep him at work as he could not provide service to work.
Yashasvi was struggling to take out time from his tight training schedule for making the ends meet. In such situation he started living at the tent of the grounds men and to earn money he started selling panipuri. Reminiscing about those days Yashasvi told to the reporters that during that time he had to sleep hungry in the days when he could not even manage food for himself, he also said that while living at the tents he even struggled to get fresh water. After living in a miserable condition for three years he was spotted by Jwala Singh. Jwala Singh runs a cricket academy that is in Santacruz. The benevolent man later became his legal guardian and also owns his power of attorney. It was 2013 December from when he started receiving a holistic training including nutritious food and a place to stay. Currently, Yashasvi is studying in Class X.
Yashasvi Jaiswal career
His career officially started from 2015 as in that year he scored 319 and remained not out. Apart from batting, he also took 13 wickets against 99 runs. He ensured his position as an all-rounder in school cricket and got a place in Limca Book Records. Soon after that he made it to Mumbai Under-16 team. Later he got selected for the National team Under-19 category, when the team participated in ACC Under-19 Asia Cup he became the highest scorer with a score of 319 runs. He won a title of ‘Player of the tournament’ at that tournament which was held in 2018. In the same year he also scored 294 runs in seven matches in a tri-series that took place in England. Later he got selected for 2020 U-19 ICC World Cup to represent the country. During the World Cup it is needless to say how he became everyone’s favorite. He scored century in semi-finale against Pakistan.
Tournaments played by Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal played first-class cricket for Mumbai in 2019 and the tournament was Ranji Trophy 2018-19. On 28th September, 2019 he made it to List A again for Mumbai and the tournament was Vijay Hazare Trophy2019-20. At that tournament Yashasvi scored 203 runs against 154 balls against Jharkhand. With that score he became the youngest player who scored double century at the age of 17. According to the record, he also became the one of the top five players with record score. Later, for Deodhar Trophy he made it to List B and recently, Rajasthan Royals bought him for the upcoming IPL tournament.
It can be said that Yashasvi as a player is not only skilled but also a clam minded player. During the World Cup, he showed immense maturity in every tricky situation. His ability to turn match towards his favor and this is the reason he is being considered as one of the brightest players in India. Lastly, it can be concluded that, the small tournament and regional tournaments are the actual platform to spot the talents. There are several international players like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, etc. were spotted through the regional tournaments and first class cricket platform. Likewise, it is expected that we will see Yashasvi playing for the Indian national team.
